Week Eleven: The Tractor Pull Challenge

This week we completed the racquetball autonomous challenge. We completely took apart our robot and are in the process of rebuilding the robot for the Tractor Pull Challenge. This challenge requires us to build a robot that is able to pull 700+ pounds from one line to the other. We would like to have this completed by the middle of next week at the latest.

Week Eleven: Racquetball Autonomous Part 2

This week we hope to complete the racquetball autonomous challenge, finish the SolidWorks component for this challenge, and start the next challenge. Since we have been having some balance issues, we decided to place a metal part on the back to prevent the robot from falling backwards when the claws lifts up. We hope this will act as a weight keeping the robot balanced while still functioning correctly.

Week Ten: Racquetball Autonomous

This week, we completed the racquetball challenge and are now working on the code for the racquetball autonomous challenge. We successfully picked up three balls and placed them in the tube. Now, we have to autonomously place one ball in the tube in a minute or less. Also, we have completed the SolidWorks version with the basket.

Week Ten: The Assembly Part 2

Today we are continuing our work on rebuilding the arm for the racquetball challenge. Our goals this week include to have the arm finished today, complete the challenge tomorrow and complete the autonomous version of this challenge by Friday.

Week Nine: The Assembly

We are currently working on building the arm and "ball holder" for the racquetball challenge. Even though, we have not finished building the arm, we still should be able to complete the challenge on Monday. We will be back on track next week as this was the last super-testing week.

Week Nine: The Racquetball Challenge

Today we completed the autonomous tetrahedron challenge and are now beginning the next challenge: racquetball challenge. This week we have to build a ball holder on the arm to pick up the ball and place it in a tube. We hope to have the arm built by Friday and ready to complete the challenge on Monday.

Week Eight: The Autonomous Part 2

This week we have been working on completing the autonomous challenge. Unfortunately, we had some setbacks, including this not being a full week of school, we have not had much time and the code would not save so we had have to restart each day. Also, the gear became loose and we had to replace it. The robot is now following commands and is at top speed again. Our goal is to complete this challenge today and still obtain a passing score.

Week Eight: The Autonomous

After having completed the tetrahedron challenge, it was now time to begin the autonomous tetrahedron challenge. The basics of the challenge are the same as the previous challenge except we have to program the robot to move "autonomously" and place the tetrahedron on the stand. Our goals this week include to finish programming the robot and completing the challenge. However, this may be a little difficult to do as we have a short week of school.

Week Seven: The Challenge

This week we finished building the claw on our squarebot. We preformed our challenge with the claw and we scored 120 points minus the days that we were late. Our robot works nicely and goes very fast. We finished building the claw for the squarebot on SolidWorks. We will hopefully finish the programming for the next challenge by Monday.

Week Seven: The Trials

... And the trials begin!!! Today we have started practicing for the test. We take the tetrahedron and have the robot grab it, lift it up, and place in on the scorer. In order to get a perfect score, it has to be placed on the top piece sticking out. We have one minute to place three tetrahedrons on the scorer. Good luck team!!!

Week Six: The Claw Part 2

Today we fixed and finished the clawbot. We had a few problems and figured out that the motor needed to be replaced. Once replaced, the robot and the claw work perfectly and is the fastest bot alive!

Week Six: The Claw

On Friday, we started building and attaching the claw to the robot and are continuing to work on it today. We hope to finish it today as we are a little behind and since it is due tomorrow. Working together, we should be able to finish it today or by early tomorrow (the latest).

Week Five: The Struggle

We have finished creating the squarebot on Solidworks. It took us longer than expected but we finally finished programming the squarebot to complete three laps around the chairs. We are now beginning to make the claw.

Week Five: The Laps

Our goals for this week include completing the robot on SolidWorks and programming the robot to make three laps around the two chairs. However, we might not be able to complete the autonomous three laps today since we are a little behind, but we will try our best!

Week Four: The Setback

Yesterday, we had a setback with programming the robot. The robot started smoking which was due to the VEX Motor Wire being exposed and rubbing against the metal. However, we are back on track and are learning how to properly program the robot autonomously. We also had some complications with building the robot on SolidWorks, but we are now collaborating together and everything is going great.

Week Four: The Program

Welcome back! Today we finally finished building the robot and found a secure place for the battery. We are now ready to program! Our goals are to finish assembling the robot on SolidWorks and to adjust the way the robot moves using the RobotC Program.

Week Three: The Brain

Unfortunately, we did not finish the SolidWorks version of the robot, but we hope to have it completed before we get back from Spring Break.  We added the "brain" to the robot as well as the battery.

Week Three: The Assembly

This week we will hopefully finish building the robot. We will begin assembling the robot in SolidWorks.

Friday, March 11, 2016

Week Two: The Bot

We obtained all the parts necessary to complete the square bot and are almost done assembling. Our toolbox is organized and the blog is up and running. We are almost there!

Week Two: The Origin

Today we started to take apart the robot, as well as start our inventory for making the square bot. Our goals include organizing our toolbox, finish the blog, and start assembling the robot. We have half of the parts needed and would like to finish inventory before the week is over.
